The style of play is divided in to two divisions, recreational and competitive. The format is 6 v 6 co-ed for both men and women. Leagues run each fall and spring season.

The tournament runs in conjunction with three major sand events, the North American Sand Soccer Championships, the East Coast Surfing Championships and the Annual Neptune Festival.
